A third independent take on putting UD2.9 onto SMD, by Patriks Ezerins (posts as ‘Late’, runs the LateNightProjects channel), working separately from WaskaLabs’ UD29X. It matches the UD2.7C footprint, replaces the obsolete switching regulator and adds a self-oscillating mode (remove R11, add R8, retune C13 to the resonant frequency; his own note on the schematic). It stays hand-solderable despite the SMD conversion. The schematic itself is dated 15 Aug 2023, Rev B. As of late 2024 it was bench-tested with promising results but not yet confirmed running an actual coil. Two more points come from the board rather than any write-up. The renders are of “REV C”, dated 29 October 2023, a later board than the Rev B schematic archived here, which is dated 15 August. And the bottom silkscreen prints the whole ancestry in the designer’s own words: “Designed by Patriks Ezerins. Based on: UD2.9 design by profdc9, UD2.7 design by Gao Guangyan, UD2.5 design by Eric Goodchild, Original UD2 design by Steve Ward”. That is a primary source for the same chain this tree draws. There is still no photograph of an assembled board. The forum thread and the repository together hold a schematic, two layout views and two renders, and nothing else.
