Built on this board (the silkscreen reads “Tesla Chris QCW 01/2025 based on LoneOceans”) and reworked from an SSTC-family ramped board toward QCW-style operation. It merges the original’s two 555 timers into one 556 for a tighter layout. It swaps in faster, smaller gate-drive transformers plus PNP/NPN boost transistors sized for modern IGBTs drawing around 500 A pulses. A proper current-sense transformer on the secondary’s base connection replaces what its own author calls “a sketchy field antenna”, and there is added EMI mitigation around the feedback path. The board has 2 oz copper for the current it’s meant to carry. Work in progress, paused since mid-2025 with a revival planned. Only KiCad 3D renders exist so far, no assembled board.
